Mermaid

98/366

There's a new member of the Love toy family, a beautiful handmade mermaid from local artist, Kath. I adore that she is hand stitched with love, from her crocheted seaweed hair to her hand beading.

There are more beautiful mermaids available in gorgeous, whimsical colours. I particularly likely the green-skinned girl with the coral-like hair and lace crown. I feel a giveaway not too far away...

What should we name her?

Summer Wardrobe Staples - Saltwater Sandals

I'd seen Saltwater sandals on the little feet of babies online over the years, usually worn by the children of mother bloggers. After reading some very positive reviews, I took Love into a local boutique store, where we played around with different sizes. At the time she hadn't begun to walk and we were advised to hold off on purchasing the sandals until she could stand independently and had taken her first few steps.

After a few weeks, we returned to the store and purchased this rather pretty pair of red sandals as her Christmas present.

As Christmas approached, we periodically brought out the shoebox and slipped her chubby feet into the leather sandals, concerned she may outgrow them before December 25th. Thankfully, they were still a little on the large side.

These past few weeks, Love has rarely been barefoot. These sandals are very comfortable, secure well to her feet and have been worn in the sea, in the forest and on the sand. There's still room for her feet to grow but they fit and can be worn now, which is wonderful. I can vouch for how comfortable they are because my sweet husband secretly purchased a pair in the same colour for my Christmas gift. Now when we wear them together, he says we are 'twinning'.

If you're after a simple, pretty summer sandal, these Saltwater sandals are an excellent choice.

Summer face. Sunscreen, salty skin, sand and the remnants of a juicy nectarine, with splashes of mango. Oh how I love you, Baby Love.(ISO 100, f2.8, 1/2500)

Happy to be joining Jodi and friends again in 2016 for the 52 project.

Merry Christmas from the Gohs - Part II

Merry Christmas - Part I

359/365

Merry Christmas from our little family to yours! We were very busy on Christmas Day, baking gingerbread, making stop-motion movies whilst Love dozed in the afternoon and hand-delivering our delicious home-baked treats to the neighbourhood. There's plenty more photos to share but for now, we will leave you with this little movie. The photos are not edited as it was a quick movie made in 30 minutes.

Enjoy the magical musical delight that is Michael Bublé and the Puppini Sisters singing Jingle Bells and be sure to watch the movie in high definition. It only lasts 44 seconds and is sure to make you smile.

Christmas photo diary to follow very soon.

Love, the Goh Family

Chicken pox. We have no idea where she contracted it but I do know that for two weeks, I felt unrelenting fear as her little body fought the virus. High temperatures, general discomfort and a very poorly baby. Thankfully, she did not break out in many blisters. These pictures were taken at the beginning. I don't have photos of how she looked as it progressed because I couldn't be separated from her when she needed me.

Somehow, despite this recent illness and the mandatory quarantine period, she managed to find joy in simple objects. A hair brush, a ceiling fan, a roll of toilet paper. Baby Love, you are stronger and more resilient than I ever imagined. I'm thankful that you did not suffer for very long. I'm grateful that your beautiful smile and happy personality shone through, even when you were unwell. xx
