A portrait of my family once a week, every week in 2013
Byron: Excitement overcomes fear as he watches his first Christmas Beetle climb over his hand.
The beetle's wing cases (elytra) shine with yellow-green iridescent colours as our nine year old neighbour places the clumsy scarab beetle into Byron's hand. At first he cringes as it crawls over his fingers. Amazement and excitement soon settle his nerves as he stares in wonder at the plump, inch-long beetle. His first Christmas Beetle, one month before Christmas Day.
I am blessed to be able to share moments like this with my beautiful husband. We come from different lands, and yet our reactions to new things mirror one another. There is so much beauty in nature.
~Joining Jodi and friends~ This week I am drawn to images with indoor plants. They bring nature inside and brighten any space with vivid green beauty. The tiny faces melt my heart too. Eulalie in front of her indoor basket, and Milo concentrating in front of succulents.

I remember that sense of excitement when you let a bug crawl on your hand :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! I was a bold little girl and have lost the brave, carefree nature (just a little) during my life. Watching Byron's reaction brought those childhood moments racing back. xx
DeleteBraver than me! I could not touch one, no matter how pretty it appears
ReplyDeleteThen you can stand back to take pictures, like me. It's important to capture sweet moments of these magical beetles and the reactions of the people who allow them to crawl over their fingers. Magic. xx
